Member-driven content makes up an important part of SAFSF’s annual schedule of activities that help agriculture and food systems funders connect with each other, learn about the field and each other’s work, and amplify their impact through aligned action.
Ideas submitted through this RFP may be considered:
Submission is open to any active funding organization; SAFSF membership is not required.
Sessions proposed for either a webinar or the Forum should:
We encourage policy-focused proposals that help funders learn, engage and develop collaborative strategies on federal, state, tribal, and/or local policy, as well as grassroots community organizing and power building to influence public policy. We expect that half of the sessions presented at the 2023 SAFSF Forum and throughout the year will have a policy focus.
Key areas of policy interest include discussions of policy priorities, advocacy, and funding strategies related to:
We also encourage both general and policy-specific proposals to be mindful of the Focus Areas we will continue to emphasize in 2023:
Proposals for the SAFSF Forum must have strong interactive, storytelling, movement, collaboration, hands-on, or other elements that make a compelling case for in-person presentation. We do not anticipate offering a virtual or hybrid option for Forum participation. Both workshop sessions and learning dinners will take place in concurrent blocks.
Funders whose proposals are accepted as workshop sessions are expected to pay the registration and travel expenses for themselves and any non-funder speakers included in their presentation. We also encourage funders to support their non-funder speakers with honoraria for their participation.
You may also submit your proposal for consideration as a learning dinner. The learning dinner format is best suited to a less formal presentation style and topics that lend themselves to lively table conversations. In addition to the costs above, funders whose proposals are accepted as learning dinners are also expected to underwrite the full cost of food and drink for those dinners. (Attendance numbers may be capped depending on the capacity of the chosen venue, either in the conference hotel or at a nearby restaurant.)
As mentioned above, SAFSF is pleased to accept content for 2023 SAFSF Forum and webinars from all funders, even those who are not members of SAFSF. Proposals must be submitted online by 11:59 PM PT on Monday, January 9, 2023. Visit our website to familiarize yourself with the Forum theme and to find full RFP submission process details.
